Big sister protecting Nora’s room while she takes her morning nap

Yes, it’s a fact that Daisy and Nora got off to a rocky start. What, with Daisy barking every time Nora so much as breathed her first few weeks home from the hospital. Eventually that tapered off and now she mostly ignores Nora.

She’s gotten a little more interested, for lack of a better way of putting it, in Nora, though, and dare I suggest, semi-protective?┬áMaybe I’m being overly optimistic, but Daisy’s big sister instincts seem to come out occasionally. Yes, those occasions are rare, but it happens from time to time.

For example, whenever our cleaning lady, Maggie, is here, Daisy stands guard outside Nora’s room when Maggie is upstairs. And Maggie said that even one day when Nora and I weren’t home and she was cleaning upstairs, Daisy still sat at Nora’s door. Just in case? Awww, who knew she had it in her…

Watchdog Daisy

Yep, that’s our Daisy. When Kalyana picked her up from Earth Pups today, they told him they’d mail Daisy’s blanket to us because it was still in the wash (yes, they’re so awesome that they wash your dog’s blankets). But I didn’t think they had our new address so I called to give it to them. While she was taking down our new address, the owner went on and on about how much she loves Daisy, who is — and I quote — “unique and special.” That’s one way of putting it!

She’s also tuckered out after five long days of non-stop play, no doubt.

Tired as a dog

While we were out of town for the holiday weekend, we took Daisy to Earth Pups. And while she acts like a total Nervous Nelly on our way there, I just know she loves that place.

Nervous Nelly, AKA, Daisy

How do I know she loves that place? Because they post photos on their Facebook page and I get to see her in action throughout the weekend. Does this look like the face of a dog who’s having a miserable time?

I think not.

We love Earth Pups. And so does Daisy. Nearly every time we go to pick her up be it after a short day care visit or a multi-night stay, she always seems so happy and has to run back to “say” goodbye to whomever is working there that day. Of course, I’m sure that has something to do with being given treats before she goes, too, but she truly seems to be happy, as happy as a Nervous Nelly like Daisy can be.

Whenever I get home from running, I roll out the yoga mat and do some stretches in the basement. And Daisy cozies up next to me and thinks it’s a game of some sort, so she does some stretches of her own, albeit, different kinds of stretches.
